Marie M. Roth
August 28, 1947 - December 6, 2017
Marie M. Roth, age 70, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on December 6, 2017.
Born in Hazleton, PA on August 28, 1947, Marie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Gurgol) Zurowski. She resided in Landenberg, PA with her husband of 50 years, Thomas W. Roth. Marie worked in various positions for the Avon Grove School District, retiring as an assistant to the administration after 30 years of service.
She loved the ocean and was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends at their beach house in Lewes, DE. Marie enjoyed walking on the beach looking for shells and sea glass with her grandchildren. She was an avid collector of sorts, and most recently began collecting vintage sand pails which strongly reflected her love of the beach. In her spare time, Marie would go to yard sales, flea markets, and auctions to find hidden treasures. Most of all, Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to share traditions with her immediate family. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Zurowski, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas W. Roth; son, Robert M. Roth and his wife, Anne Hunt Roth, and their children, Faith Nicole and Shane Thomas of Kirkwood, PA.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday evening, December 11, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday morning, December 12, 2017 at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made Marie’s name to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
