Martin Edward “Eddie” Hardy

October 12, 1954 - February 6, 2020

          Martin Edward “Eddie” Hardy, age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020.

          Born in Youngstown, OH on October 12, 1954, he was the son of Mildred C. (Brack) Hardy and the late Charles Grant Hardy, Sr.  Eddie worked as a brick layer and mason with Bricklayer Union Local 1 PA/DE and took great pride in his work.

          A fan of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing.  Eddie was the life of the party, a huge fan of Elvis Presley and loved family gatherings.  He liked working on cars, drag racing and horse racing.  A spiritual man, Eddie enjoyed his time spent at Full Gospel Apostolic Church in Kennett Square, PA, where his grandfather, the late Edward C. Brack, pastored and built the church.  Affectionately known as “possum” to his friends, Eddie will always be remembered as a guardian angel to those he loved.

          In addition to his father, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Grant Hardy, Jr.  He is survived by his mother, Mildred of Wilmington; daughter, Denise M. Hardy of FL; step-daughter, Desiree Diaz; sisters, Margaret E. Gagnon of Newark, G. Gail Yandoli (Joseph) of Wilmington, MaryAnn Defeo of Newark and Linda Mitchell (Marty) of New Castle; grandson, Ryan Danielson; sister-in-law, Annette Hardy; and many nieces and nephews.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a memorial service will begin at 11 am.  Interment will be held privately.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720 to help defer funeral costs.

Loved having you as a brother-in-law and loved how you use to joke about Corie being yours, such a funny funny man.   • Eddie used to love telling the guys on the construction site he used to steal my lunch money when we were kids. Eddie never stole anything from anyone except our love and friendship. I’m sure he’s pointing up the brickwork at the Pearly Gates.

    Rest In Peace my friend. You added a lot of smiles on a lot of faces in our old neighborhood when we were kids. No one ever knew what you were gonna do next but it was always a hoot.
