Mrs. Mary A. Minor, known fondly as “Momma,” age 92, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012.
Born in Abbeville, SC, on April 20, 1920, Mrs. Minor was the daughter of the late Samuel M. Ashley and Odell Timms Ashley. She was a gifted seamstress throughout her life and worked professionally with clothing manufacturers in both South Carolina and in Wilmington, DE.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Minor was a longtime, active member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her leisure hours, she enjoyed traveling, reading, and listening to country music. She was also very talented at a variety of arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Minor; children, Billy J. Minor, Shirley Hughes, Samuel J. Minor, Roger D. Minor, and Brenda J. Minor; and siblings, James A. Ashley, Jesse Ashley, and Evelyn O. Jordan. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy A. Smith (Eugene) and Barbara G. Snow (James); brother, Robert Ashley (Betty); and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 8 am to 9 am on Monday, December 31st, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. The funeral service will follow at 9:30 am. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
