Mary E. (Spicer) Gove

Mary E. (Spicer) Gove, age 94, of Hanover, PA and formerly of Newark, DE, joined her precious Lord and those of her loved ones who were waiting to greet her on Monday, June 22, 2015.
Born in Red Lion, DE on August 1, 1920, Mrs. Gove was the daughter of the late Samuel L. Spicer and Sarah Amanda (Weldon) Spicer. She retired after a 22 year career with the Christina School District where she worked as a baker and cook.
Strong in her faith, Mrs. Gove was a longtime member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark. Loved by all for her sweet nature, laughter, love of all games and incomparable baking, she will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbur N. Gove, Sr.; son, Wilbur N. Gove, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; 7 siblings; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gove is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Hart (Norman), M. Ellen Roper (Stan) and Teresa Lynn Miller (David); grandchildren, Cynthia Brackney (Stan), Stanley Roper, Brenda McCallister (Kenny), Angelica Raborg, April Moorehead (Mark) and Justin Miller (KayLynn); 11 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Velma Whitlock; daughter-in-law, Patricia Jean Gove; and a large extended family.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Thursday evening, June 25, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, June 26, 2015, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
