Maude L. Bower

Mrs. Maude L. Bower, age 91, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012.
Mrs. Bower was born in Jeffersonville, IN, on June 26, 1920, daughter of the late Edward Carter and Emma Gill Carter. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she also worked as a school bus driver for the Christina School District for 18 years.
Mrs. Bower was an active member of Living Waters Church of God in Newark and the Newark Senior Center. She supported many charitable causes, including the collection of thousands of beverage tabs for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed crocheting lovely gifts for family and friends, playing bingo, and collecting unique figurines and plush toys to add to her extensive bear collection.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wayne W. Bower, son, Wayne Edward Bower, and sister, Aline Bowers. She is survived by her children, Donald Bower, Ronald Bower (Shirley), Loren Bower (Diane), Ramona “Sue” Helton (Junior), Linda Deese (the late Robert), Clifford Bower (Cindy), and Norman Bower (Patty); niece, Wilma Edwards (Ashton); nephew, David Aldridge (Ann); brother, Raymond Carter (Alice); 16 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
