Maude “Ruth” Maguire

Maude “Ruth” Maguire, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018.

Born on January 1, 1934 in Clintwood, VA, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Estelle (Wright) Powers. After graduating from Clintwood High School, Ruth worked for Chrysler in Newark for 39 years, first as a key punch operator and later as a computer operator.

After retirement, she remained active by obtaining her real estate license and participating in the Senior Olympics. She enjoyed bowling, archery and ballroom and square dancing. Ruth loved all dogs and they loved her. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and companion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Maguire; sisters, Nina Marie Robinson, Irma Louise Mudgett, and Virginia Natalie; and brother, Robert Powers. Ruth is survived by her children, Jeffrey Michael Lester, Donna Minner (Ed), and Susan Polzin (Ed); 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her lifelong companion, Carl Czajczynski.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Chapel in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
