Michael F. Rief, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Born in New York, NY on March 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna J. (Albrecht) Rief. Michael worked in the warehouse for Nabisco, retiring after 37 years of employment. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bear. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Triano and brother, Charles Rief. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carmen E. (Hernandez) Rief; sons, Joseph M. Rief (Julia) of Lodi, NJ and John F. Rief (Connielyn) of Hillsborough, NJ; grandchildren, Michele, Nicholas (Kimmie), and Makensie; and great grandchildren, Briele, Tyler, Thomas, and Aidan.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening, December 20, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A second visitation will be held from 4 pm until 8 pm on Friday evening, December 22, 2017, at the Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main Street, Lodi, NJ 07644 where a funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ.

  • My condolences to the Reif family I was Micheals care giver for three year I grown to love him and his family. I am sad that he has left us but I no that his in a better place. I LOVE U MR. MICHAEL AND MRS CARMEN.
