Michael Leo Parsons, Sr.

Michael Leo Parsons, Sr., age 73, of Dover, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

Born on June 4, 1948 in Darby, PA, he was a son of the late William Leo and Marion (Higgins) Parsons.

Michael was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School in Upper Darby, PA, class of 1967. The following year he enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving overseas in Europe. Michael retired from the Army in 1973 and was a supervisor in the Westing House and Franklin Mint before beginning his career in the United States Postal Service. He worked for over 25 years as a national account manager until his retirement. Michael could often be found cheering on any of the Philadelphia sports teams, but the Eagles and the Phillies were his favorite. Above all else he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy L. Parsons. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy L. Parsons; children, Michael L. Parsons, Jr. (Carol), Shawn J. Parsons (Jessica), Timothy J. Parsons (Jamie), Sarah L. Parsons (Brian), and Kaitlyn T. Rodriguez (Enrique); siblings, William Parsons (Lynn), Marion Lane (Warren), and Suzanne Baker; 17 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, 2839 DuPont Highway, Middletown, DE.
