Milton J. Steltz, Sr.
October 13, 1918 - December 25, 2020
Milton J. Steltz, Sr., age 102, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning.
Born on October 13, 1918 in Chester, PA, Milt was a son of the late Isaac and Anna Mae (Hoops) Steltz. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Missouri, where the formal signing of Japan’s surrender was held on September 2, 1945. Milt worked for Chrysler for 28 years as a machine repairman, retiring in 1980.
A member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc., Milt had a special interest in making clocks and bringing new life to old ones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 76 years, Elizabeth V. (May) Steltz; siblings, Francis and Hirbert Steltz, Annamae Weilski, and Hazel Shadel; and grandson, John Dempsey. Milt will be dearly missed by his children, Elizabeth “Betsy” Dempsey (Robert), Milton J. Steltz, Jr. (Maxine), and Frederick Steltz (Anita); 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
Services and interment will be held privately.
