Mrs. Marie A. Park

September 21, 1935 - January 7, 2023

Mrs. Marie A. Park, age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Three Springs, PA on September 21, 1935, Marie was a daughter of the late Scott and Pearl (Kephart) Crotsley. She was a graduate of Orbisonia High School in 1953. Marie met and dated Edwin T. Park, also of Mapleton Depot, PA, and they married on January 29, 1956. Edwin and Marie settled in Wilmington, DE after they married.

Marie worked for Woolworths until she started raising a family. Together Marie and Edwin had four children and she made a career of being a homemaker. When her children were in their teenage years, Marie went back to work for Wilmington Dry Goods until 1980. She then worked for Wawa Food Markets until her retirement. Marie enjoyed cooking, camping, cook-outs, family gatherings, and being a homemaker, mother, aunt, sister, and a grandmother.

Marie will always hold a special place in our hearts and thoughts, and will be sadly missed by all. Though she suffered from health problems for many years, Marie gave it her all until the very end. She will always be an inspiration to the people who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Park; and siblings, Dola G. Drake, Herman Crotsley, Preston Crotsley, Joe Crotsley, and Chester Crotsley. She is survived by her children, Ronald S. Park, Jeanne M. Park, Cynthia A. Park-Mortimer (Alfred), all of New Castle, and Irwin D. Park (Doris) of Wilmington; sisters, Hazel Saintz of NC, and Alice Horimoto (Harold) of FL; grandchildren, Heather T. Park of PA, Scott E. Park (Jessica) FL, Justin D. Park (Jessica) of NJ, and Eugene W.T. Park of New Castle; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will begin at 3 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.

  • Mom, I know that the Lord called you home to be with Dad and all our brothers and sister, and other family members, but you are so sadly missed and loved by everyone. I just hope that you know that we tried to do our best for you, and our best to take care of you. If we could have done more we would have. I am trying to be strong for everyone but I don’t know if I can this time. I will try my best though. We miss you, and love you very much. You will see us again in time.
