Nancy Louise Dempsey - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Nancy Louise Dempsey

August 23, 1935 - January 22, 2023

Nancy Louise Dempsey, age 87, of New Castle, DE, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on August 23, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Moore) Tyler, Jr.

Nancy and “Tommy” raised five children together. Nancy was dedicated to family, friends and her church family at Berean Baptist Church. Nancy was a faithful servant of her savior Jesus Christ and served in many capacities including women’s ministries, youth ministries and choir. Nancy was a gifted soloist and especially remembered for singing O Holy Night every Christmas Eve.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many

women do noble things, but you surpass them all… a woman who fears the Lord is

to be praised.” To God Be The Glory!

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dempsey, Jr.; and brother, Frank Tyler. She is survived by her children, Karen Wilson (Thomas) of Jacksonville, NC, Susan Duncan (Michael) of Middletown, Steven Dempsey (Deborah) of New Castle, Paul Dempsey (Theresa) of Middletown, and Barbara Shirey (Mark) of Humble, TX; sisters, Janet Dill (George) of Hockessin and Evelyn Dempsey of New Castle; and 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

A private committal service will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Berean Baptist Church in New Castle at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Berean Baptist Church, PO Box 556, New Castle, DE 19720.
