Nicholas J. “Nick” Barnett, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 7, 1934, he was a son of the late James and Anna (Hanrahan) Barnett. Nick graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in 1953. He made his career as a customer service foreman for Philadelphia Gas Works for 40 years, retiring in 1995.

A devout Catholic, Nick was a member of Holy Family Parish. In his younger years, he coached youth sports. Nick will always be remembered as someone always willing to help everyone.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his siblings, Jim Barnett, Anna Martin, and Mary Muldoon and son-in-law, Dan Salvato. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia (Shafron) Barnett; daughters, Tricia Salvato and Kathy Homa (Dave); sister, Sister Eileen Miriam, IHM; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan Salvato and Alicia and Katelyn Homa.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately.
