Nicholas L. Menei, age 59, of Delaware City, DE, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Mr. Menei was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 7, 1953, and, as a young man, proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His most recent position was inside salesman for Carrier Rental Systems in Bear. He was an active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
Mr. Menei enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing, carpentry, singing, watching Phillies baseball games, gardening and spending time with his family. He was always generous with his time and knowledge, and never failed to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Susan G. (Ely) Menei; children, Dominic J. Menei of Phoenix, AZ, Samuel J. Menei and Julia F. Menei, both of Delaware City; parents, Gabriel Menei and Maria Gloria (Guiffré) Menei of Philadelphia; brothers, Ronald Menei of Philadelphia, Gabriel Menei of Brookhaven, PA, Joseph Menei of Wilmington, and Michael Menei of Glenolden, PA; granddaughter, Cadence; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions for the Sunday Breakfast Mission may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701.

He loved his weekend trips on the bike with his wife. He would come in on Mondays and tell me stories about the bed and breakfast they stayed at. So sweet and such a caring man. Sue, I’m so deeply grieved to hear about Nick. I miss you both and will always have the best memories of the times we all spent together while you were at Red Lion…from Nick singing at my wedding, to his drumming in the Praise Team, through the VBS years, and our Bible Study group – that I miss the most…Nick always had such a wonderful way to help me understand God’s word and gave me great Godly advice on so many occasions. I’ll also miss seeing him do his Mummers Strut to the Delaware City Day Parade in front of your house. He was always ready to help anyone at anytime, and loved to make everyone around him laugh and smile. I just can’t say enough things about Nick to do him justice, but the most important one is that he was a wonderful Christian example…the absolute best! I’ll miss him terribly, as I know you do.
