Nick H. Crist, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021.

Born in Pocahontas, VA on October 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Steve and Julia (Pop) Crist. Nick was employed with Chrysler as an inspector for 31 years.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. Nick was an excellent woodworker and jack of all trades. He liked to watch boxing and wrestling with his family. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by seven siblings and his great grandson, Tyler Hess. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Gayle (Honaker) Crist; sons, Nick A. Crist and Timothy Crist (Laura); daughters, Rhonda Van Vechten (Stephen) and Tanya Squitiere; siblings, Julia Davidson, Frances O’Brien (William) and James Crist; six grandchildren, Rachelle, Timothy, Jr., Stephen, Ryan, Shane, and Amber; and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Tristen.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nick’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA, 19106.

  • Our dear father,grandfather and Great grandfather as passed and as much as we mourn our loss we also celebrate the life he lead- he was the first one to help any of his children/ grandchildren in anything they we doing.He passed on his knowledge of fixing cars, and repairing plus building any structures. He loved gardening and many more things! We love you Pop-Pop and will always hold you in our ♥️
