Oga V. Evans

Mrs. Oga V. Evans, age 71, of New Castle, DE, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 26, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Evans was born in Wilmington on Christmas Day 1940, daughter of the late Charles R. Denn and Edith W. Funk Denn. She was employed with the Whirling Top Restaurant at Wilmington Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1981 as the service supervisor.
Mrs. Evans was a devout Christian throughout her life and had been a longtime member of the Wilmington First Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Currently, she was a member of Trinity Community Church. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed bowling with friends and testing her skills against computer solitaire.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Evans dedicated her life to caring for her beloved family; she especially delighted in spending time with her very precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Admired and loved by all for her gracious and compassionate nature, she was particularly well known for her wonderful, comforting hugs that gave support to so many people over the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 22 years, Jonah W. “Jony” Evans, sister, Alice Gitney, and brother, Charles Denn. She is survived by her children, Dawn Goodyear (Brian) and Edith Lewis (Billy), Claud Evans, Louella Peck (Terry), Kimberly Mason, Clyde Evans, and Jake Evans (Jenna); 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.
