Patricia A. “Pat” Burns (nee Clarkson), passed away January 21, 2020 surrounded by family.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA on August 25, 1952, she was the second oldest of nine children to the late John and Marilyn Clarkson (Gager).  Patricia worked many years as a waitress at a restaurant that she later purchased and owned for over 20 years in Philadelphia called “Pat’s All American”. She had a very successful business before selling and moving to Delaware in the 90’s with her family, where she dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Clarkson; grandson, Anthony Burns; and son-in-law, Dave Schmidt.  She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Raymond; her four children, Raymond (Tara), David (Victoria), Dawn Schmidt, Kristy Deaton (CJ).  Patricia was the second oldest of nine siblings; John Clarkson, Debbie Clarkson, Karen Clarkson, Daniel Clarkson, Christine Kohlyer (Clarkson), Ronald Clarkson, and Robert Clarkson.  She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Raymond Burns, Dustin Burns, Grace and David Burns, Kaitlyn Cassidy, Haley and Aliyah Schmidt, Yusef Moustafa, and Alivia and Reese Deaton. Patricia will be sadly missed by her five great-grandchildren, Shannon, Braeden, Emmett, Chase and Sarah. Several family members who have passed away and paved the road she has now taken will receive Patricia with open arms.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, January 27, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am.  Interment will be held privately.

  • Pat was a good,caring boss. She always saw the best in everyone. She made going to work a joy. I enjoyed the times we rode to work during snow storms. She will always be in my heart. Prayers to the family.
