Patricia Gayle Derrickson, age 69, of Townsend, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on December 11, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Nancy (Hoyt) Patterson. Gayle graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington. She made her career as a pharmacy technician for various local pharmacies. Gayle was a faithful member of the Claymont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as a former president and vice president. She enjoyed reading, coloring, and most of all, spending time with her loving family.

In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Derrickson and a brother, John Patterson. She is survived by her children, Patrick Patterson (Shellee) and Susan Hanna (Dan); stepchildren, Chris Derrickson and Carol Derrickson; grandchildren, Jordan, Keri, Alexis, Laura, Kelsey, Megan, Becca, Trevor, Sidnee, and Josh; great grandsons, Elijah, Eli, and Myles; and brother, Timothy Patterson.

A committal service for family and friends will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Face masks are required for all in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gayle’s memory to Claymont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
