Age 70, of Wilmington, DE, born August 27, 1941, went home to her maker on December 16, 2011, after a short hospitalization at Christiana Hospital.

Miss Pat spent 12 years working at the Music School of Delaware, which she loved with all her heart. In her spare time, she was delighted to spend time with her husband and family and enjoyed shopping.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Charles F. Layton; her mother Helen Mc Carraher of Smyrna; DE, her brother Harry F. Cook of Raleigh, NC; her step sister Susan Hansen and her husband Richard of Elkton, MD; her step mother Martha Cook of CA; step sister Patricia of CA; Step brothers Steven of CA; James of MI, and Michael of MI. Nieces Joyce Simmons and her husband Eric of Bear DE; Lizbeth Thompson and her husband Kristopher of Milford, DE; Barbara Bright and her husband Geoff of Pittsboro, NC; Beth Cook of Osaka, Japan, and nephew Howard Hansen of Elkton, MD, also survive Patricia. Patricia also leaves behind 7 great nieces, 2 great nephews and her much loved cat Tikka. Her father Harry A. Cook, stepfathers Wilber Mummert and David Mc Carraher; and grandparents on both sides of her family predeceased her.

Pat “Miss Pat” will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially by the students, parents and staff of the Music School of Delaware.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be made to the Music School of DE, 4101 Washington Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
