Mrs. Patricia Salts Kohan, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.
Born in Oak Hill, WV, on December 29, 1937, Mrs. Kohan was the daughter of the late Ottie Salts and Hazel Smith Salts. She was a 1955 graduate of Newark High School and made her career as a professional secretary with the Newark Special School District, working for both West Park Place Elementary School and Christiana Junior High School prior to her retirement.
A devout Christian throughout her life, she was a longtime, active member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Kohan greatly enjoyed camping throughout her life. She was also a gifted and diligent family genealogist. A talented homemaker, she delighted most of all in caring for her beloved family and especially enjoyed time spent with her precious grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, John G. Kohan; sons, David S. Kohan and wife Daria of Newark and Christopher M. Kohan and wife Amy of Elkton, MD; and grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn, and Lauren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William Salts, and sister, Bertha Cox.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 20th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 21st, at Calvary Baptist Church, 215 E. Delaware Avenue, Newark, DE 19711. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
