Peter Cherwaty, Sr.

Peter Cherwaty, Sr., age 96, of Nottingham, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 16, 2021.
Born in Elkton, MD, on May 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Alex and Mary Cherwaty. Peter proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a maintenance technician for DuPont Co. In his spare time, Peter often enjoyed attending auctions. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda P. (Brown) Cherwaty, and his son, Peter Cherwaty, Jr. He is survived by his son, Troy D. Cherwaty, and grandson, Chris R. Cherwaty.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
