Peter Kamermans

Mr. Peter Kamermans, known fondly as “Heineken Pete,” age 92, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
A native of Holland, Mr. Kamermans was born on June 12, 1920, one of twelve children of the late Albertus J. Kamermans and Gerritje Schyff Kamermans. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 and would later accept a position with the DuPont Company, where he was employed as a sheet metal worker for 21 years until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Kamermans was an active member of the Delaware Saengerbund for many years. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed woodworking, watching wrestling, and taking his family to dinner.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rachel Ida Verwoert Kamermans, grandson, Ryan Kamermans, son-in-law, Fred Grabner, and grandson-in-law, Michael Kerrigan. He is survived by his children, Gerda Neukerk (Rudolf) of Wilmington, Diene Grabner of Wilmington, Rita Fitzcharles (Jack) of Quarryville, PA, and Rob Kamermans (Shirley) of North East, MD; brothers, Cor Kamermans of New Zealand and Gerrit Kamermans of Holland; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 24, 2013, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
