Peter V. Gillen - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Peter V. Gillen

July 10, 1935 - May 27, 2020

With great sadness, our Dad/Pop-pop, Peter V. Gillen, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly. We will love and miss him forever; he was loved by many.

Dad retired from Sun Oil Co. many years ago. He used to enjoy fishing and always enjoyed organic gardening. He filled his days with organic gardening as he had done since the 1960’s. His love of gardening and nature were his favorite way to pass the time. His heirloom tomatoes were famous for their size and flavor, and well loved by many.

Dad was a very generous man who gave to countless charities. This explains the pounds of calendars, blankets, mugs, flags, note pads and return addressed stickers he received as thank you gifts. He was fond of the American Indians, service men and women, nature conservation and feeding the poor. Those are a few of the many causes he cared about.

Dad is survived by 3 children, Marianne, Susan and John; grandsons, Michael, Matthew and Christopher; and two great-grandchildren, Bianca and Jackson. He is also survived by the love of his life, Theresa Piascik.

We will miss our dad’s sense of humor and kindness. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad touched the lives of many, we will miss him always.

Services will be private. A celebration of life will take place sometime in the future.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a worthy cause as our father used to do.
