Rest in peace sweet Phyllis. I only met you once but I knew you much deeper than that, through my best friend John. I will forever remember the day my wife and I spent with you and John in Atlantic City, having a blast and enjoying each other’s company. As I told John, you are probably playing with Winston on the Rainbow Bridge right now and will be looking over us for the rest of our lives. You will be dearly missed!
Glen Bentley
Phyllis I will truly miss you, you were one of few people who I first met in PVA and you were so open to help out in anyway possible. I remember you and Judy coming to Texas for our bass tournaments and doing all the crazy thing involved, to include driving a golf cart at 5am through the pitch black while holding a flashlight for a headlight. You were truly a amazing woman and will be dearly missed, but will be in a lot of our hearts. Rest in Peace Phyllis.
Brooklyn
I will love you forever
Miss you so much

Phyllis was a kind, gracious and fun loving woman with a kooky wild streak that made people love her! Her passion for veterans and the under served is something I will always remember and hold dear to my heart! She was the heart beat and soul of the PVA Colonial Chapter. I will always remember her and Rebecca Sherman hanging out at PVA Coventions and functions together. Phyllis made a lasting impact in PVA circles and especially at the Association of Chapter Executive Directors meetings. May God have mercy on her soul and bring comfort to her family and friends!

Dear family and friends,
I have known Phyllis only from the reports by her husband John who has been a business partner and a friend of mine for more than 30 years. But as John always wrote about her as a partner, a friend and a great support in the daily life for all that have known her she was very much alive as a person for me. I followed the brave struggle of Phyllis and admired her fighting spirit, and prayed for her.
I wish all of you strength for the future, and I regret to be unable to personally be near to you in these tough days.
May you find peace and comfort,

time with us. She certainly made a lifetime of memories for those of us she left behind. I
am so sorry and who knows she is probably planning a special event for those who have gone on before. I love you Phyllis. Mary

The Colonial PVA shoot was among the finest. Certainly , it had much to do with Phyllis. She would be the first you would see at the club house. My husband, Tim Doyle, entered the shoot for many years and has been a Keith Lewis winner. We will miss her and remember her kindness to us! My sympathies.

To all Phyllis’s family
50 years ago Phyllis Preston was a bridesmaid in my wedding to the late David Shepherd
I had met the Preston family when I first came to live in Wilmington. She was the sweetest
little girl along with her wonderful family, from reading these letters she grew up to be
lovely woman. I am so happy she had a good and happy life.
