Rachel F. Jacobsen

Mrs. Rachel F. Jacobsen, age 94, of Newark, DE, formerly of Palm Bay, FL, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011.
Mrs. Jacobsen was born in Fayetteville, NC, on November 19, 1917, daughter of the late John Faircloth and Charlotte Howell Faircloth. A talented homemaker and devoted wife of Col. Edward T. Jacobsen, she proudly supported her husband’s military career throughout their marriage.
Following their retirement, Col. and Mrs. Jacobsen moved to Palm Bay, FL in 1976, where they enjoyed golf, bowling, and bridge with friends. Mrs. Jacobsen was also an active volunteer with Peace Lutheran Church in Palm Bay and with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. In 2000, she moved to Delaware to be nearer to her beloved daughter and her family.
Col. Jacobsen passed away in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Janet J. Snader (John Sr.) of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Karen Degler (Andy), Susanne Spitsbergen (Glenn), and John Snader, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Jake and Emily.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Mrs. Jacobsen will be laid to rest with her husband privately in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
