Ralph A. Minshall, age 82, of Newark, DE passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 19, 1931, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph A. Minshall, Sr. and Florence Smith Minshall. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. Ralph made his career as a laboratory technician with DuPont and worked at the company’s Experimental Station site for nearly 40 years until his retirement.

A talented woodcarver, he was skilled in the creation of duck decoys, along with other types of birds as well. Ralph displayed his work at various shows throughout the area and was the recipient of numerous awards for his pieces. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Above all else he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marie G. Minshall; sons, Michael Gracie (Camille) and Scott Minshall (Shannon); brother, Robert Minshall; and 2 grandsons, Michael, Jr. and Christopher.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the entire staff of the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at St. Francis Hospital for the exceptional care given to Ralph during his illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Thursday morning, April 3, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where family and friends may visit from 9 am until 10 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
