Mr. Rene M. LeClair, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012.

Born in New Bedford, MA, on July 17, 1927, Mr. LeClair was the son of the late Alfred “Ted” LeClair and Irene Lebeau LeClair. He earned both his bachelor and master degrees in chemical engineering from the esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. LeClair honorably served his country in the US Army. He was employed as a chemical and design engineer with the DuPont Company, and worked at the company’s facility in West Virginia for 21 years. Mr. LeClair then went on to work at the Louviers site in Newark for 20 years before his retirement in 1992.

Mr. LeClair greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife across the United States, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean Islands. In his leisure time, he enjoyed computers, woodworking, visiting the beach, and spending time in his yard gardening. Above all else, Mr. LeClair was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald LeClair. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pierrette Bougie LeClair; children, Roberta “Bobbi” Whitfield (Thomas) of Carlisle, PA, David LeClair (Noriko) of Basel, Switzerland, and Judith LeClair (Jonathan Feldman) of Haworth, NJ; sister, Laurie Ariagno (John) of Plymouth, MA; grandchildren, Thomas David Whitfield, Kristen Killinger, Sean LeClair, and Gabriel Feldman; and great grandchild, Declan Killinger.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mr. LeClair’s name be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
