Rich Duncan

Born: 1/4/1964
Died: 3/11/2013

Mr. John Richard Duncan, Jr., known fondly as “Rich,” age 49, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Rich was born in Wilmington on January 4, 1964, and was a 1982 graduate of Salesianum High School. He would go on to study at both the University of Delaware and at Wilmington University. He had been employed in professional sales in the home remodeling industry in Wilmington for the past several years.
An avid sports fan throughout his life, Rich possessed a truly amazing, encyclopedic command of baseball statistics for his beloved Philadelphia Phillies. So well known (and admired) was he for his baseball expertise that his opinion was always considered the last word in any baseball argument! His other favorite teams included the Baltimore Ravens and the UD Blue Hens.
In his leisure hours, Richard greatly enjoyed listening to all types of music, particularly classic recordings by The Beatles.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Dena L. Hainsworth Duncan; daughters, Rilea Duncan and Mackenzie Duncan; parents, John R. Duncan, Sr. and Filomena M. Veltre Duncan of Wilmington; brother, Scott Duncan and wife Christina of Middletown; sister, Jenifer Duncan of New Castle; parents-in-law, Bob and Pat Hainsworth of Bear and Linda and Michael McCall of Middletown; sister-in-law, Kim Lerman and husband Rob of Allentown, NJ; nephews, Lucatamo, Jacob, William, and Matthew; and many aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his twin son and daughter, Ryan Andrew Duncan and Reagan Abigail Duncan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Ninth & DuPont Streets, Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Rilea and Mackenzie Duncan Education Fund, c/o Spicer-Mullikin, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
