Richard A. “Dick” Grove, Sr., age 81, of Dover, DE, and formerly of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Saxton, PA, on February 16, 1937, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy (Dunn) Grove. Dick proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He graduated from Saxton Liberty High School and began his life long career with Getty Oil Co. and it’s successors for 40 years, retiring in 1998.

A devoted fan, you could always find Dick cheering on his beloved Phillies. He loved the outdoors, especially camping. Dick’s greatest memories are the time spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Jim H. Grove. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris May Grove; children, Rich Grove (Carol), Donna Quinn (Bill) and Bob Grove (Neeka); grandchildren, Josh Quinn (Julia), Eric Quinn (Felicia), Lauren Schiller (Jeff), Andy Grove (Mary), Sara Grove, Jillian Ash, Reilly Grove and Brenna Grove; and great grandchildren, Maks and Niko Quinn, Gavin and Mason Quinn and Claire and Drew Schiller.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Cornerstone U.M. Church, 3155 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701, where a funeral service will begin at 7 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick’s name to the Cornerstone U.M. Church, at the address listed above.

    Sending my deepest sympathy to all of you. I had the pleasure of working with Dick for 14 years at the Delaware City Refinery. He was a great co-worker and an all around good “guy”. I always looked up to him and Doris, too. They did a wonderful job together raising their family. Very sorry for your loss and hope that happy memories will comfort you.
