Richard G. St. Amand
Richard G. St. Amand, known fondly as “Rich,” age 68, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, after a brief illness.
Rich was born in Newport, VT, on December 26, 1943, son of the late Gerard R. St. Amand and Laura Lanoue. A 1961 graduate of Salesianum High School, he would go on to serve his country proudly in the US Army Reserves. In his professional life, Rich was a gifted computer programmer and was employed with the former Brooks Armored Car in Wilmington, where he retired as the company’s vice-president of data processing. For the past three years, he applied his leadership and organizational talents as the assistant manager for the Flying J Truck Stop in Elkton.
Rich made his home on the C & D Canal, where he relished happy times spent boating and fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott L. “Saint” St. Amand, and his son-in-law, Vincent Monterosso. He is survived by his daughter, Juliette L. Monterosso (David Palagruto) of Elkton, MD; sister, Doria Grimes (Vincent) of Annandale, VA; brothers, George St. Amand (Mary) of Hockessin, DE, Emile St. Amand (Nancy) of Wilmington, DE, and Luke St. Amand (Kathy) of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Rosanna, Vincent, Frank, and Domenique; and great grandsons, Devin and Max.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
