Robert B. Agnor
Mr. Robert B. Agnor, age 79, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on November 26, 1933, son of the late Gilmore Agnor and Lygia Biddle Agnor, Bob graduated from high school in Oak Ridge, TN. He would go on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. A dedicated 40-year employee of the DuPont Company, he began his career working as a laboratory technician at the Stine-Haskell site in Newark. Recognized for his talents and innovative initiatives, Bob established the Fire and Security Department at Stine-Haskell, which he himself headed until his retirement in 1993.
Active in his community, Bob was a 50-year member of the Brookside Lions Club, a Life Member of both the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder and Christiana Fire Companies, a member of the boisterous Third Maryland Artillery, and a member of the NRA. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the US Naval Reserve.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Shirley A. Golden Agnor; children, Robert Agnor, Jr., Cheryl Buckingham, Jeffrey Agnor, David Agnor, and Elizabeth Agnor; grandchildren, James Agnor, Eric, Brooks, Jennifer, and Lyndsay Buckingham, Kyle and Erin Agnor, Caity and Rebecca Agnor, and Roy, Ryan, and Chris Hanna; great grandsons, Joseph, Bryce, Colton, and Beau Buckingham, and Gavin Hanna; and brother, James Agnor.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, March 3rd, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, March 4th, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
