Robert G. “Bob” Stineman, Jr.

August 11, 1950 - June 7, 2018

Robert G. Bob Stineman, Jr., age 67, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 11, 1950, he was a son of the late Dr. Robert G. and Margery (Hall) Stineman, Sr.  Bob dedicated his career as Chief of the Nuclear Medicine department at St. Francis Hospital and retired in 2016 after more than 40 years of service.

A friend to the community, Bob was past President of Delaware State Ambulance Association, New Castle County Fire Police and Delaware State Fire Police Association.  He was a life member of Christiana Fire Company as well as a member of Washington Lodge No.1 A.F. & A.M. in Wilmington and Caesar Rodney Chapter No.8 OES in New Castle.  Bob also served as Past Grand Patron of the Delaware OES.  Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Horvath.  He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Brenda (Thompson) Stineman; children, Robert M. Bob Stineman of Philadelphia, Katherine A. Stineman of New Castle and Christian Miles Stineman of New Castle; sister, Margery S. Delollis (George) of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; aunt; nieces; nephews; and cousins; and canine companion, Abbey.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where OES and Masonic Services will begin at 7 pm.  A second visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am.  Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to Christiana Fire Company, 2 East Main Street, Christiana, DE 19702 or St. Francis Foundation in memory of Robert G. Stineman, Jr., 701 North Clayton Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.

  • We were deeply saddened to learn of Mr. Stineman’s passing. He was an ardent supporter of his son’s activities at William Penn High School over the years. He always could be counted upon to assist whenever needed. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the entire family and will be keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers.

  • As one of Bob’s fire service friends, and he had many across Delaware, the region and the country, I can truly say he left this world in a lot better shape because of his work to make it better. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always the deeper thinker. He was a good man and will be missed by many.
