Robert Nussbaumer

Mr. Robert Nussbaumer, known fondly as “Bob,” age 63, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
A native Delawarean, Bob was born in Wilmington on November 6, 1947, son of the late Clarence G. and Margaret M. Sharpe. He served his country proudly in the US Army 1st Aviation Brigade during the Vietnam War, and, in civilian life, made his career with Astra Zeneca, where he retired as a process operator in 2007 after 32 years of service. He remained active in veterans’ organizations throughout his life and was a longtime member of VFW Post 475.
Bob enjoyed many pastimes, including fishing, gardening, watching sports–especially baseball, football and bowling–and traveling (except for negotiating the airport!). A talented bowler, he maintained a 190 average and participated in mixed and men’s leagues for 20 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Beth Ann Myers Nussbaumer; son, Robert Nussbaumer, Jr., at home; sisters, Margaret Nelson (Buddy) of Eddy, TX, and Ann Bielicki (Richard) of Newport; special nieces and nephew, Annie Greene, Shelby Ann McAllister, and Richie Bielicki; and many other beloved nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude Dunn (the late Walter) and Louise Carothers.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
