Robert Wayne “Goober” McNulty, Sr.

Robert Wayne “Goober” McNulty, Sr., age 71, of Claymont, DE, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on June 24, 1952, he was a son of the late Lorraine (MacDonald) and Leo F. McNulty, Sr. After graduating from Claymont High School in 1972, Robert proudly enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to the states, he went to work for the Brandywine School District for 38 years in the maintenance department. Following retirement, Robert enjoyed life to the fullest and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
He was a proud member of AA, was a mentor for many and touched a lot of lives in his 25 years of sobriety. Robert was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3182.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kay Lorraine McNulty, Thomas McNulty, Leo McNulty, Jr., Michael McNulty, and JP McNulty and twin granddaughters, Gracie and Olivia Hession. Robert is survived by his children, Robert McNulty, Jr. (Jillian), Shelley McNulty, Joseph Marcin, and Lindsay Marcin; brothers, Paul McNulty (Lisa) and Jack McNulty (Peggy); 11 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, Delaware, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
