Robert Wilson Tyre

Robert Wilson Tyre, age 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Born in New Castle, DE on December 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Eugene Allen and Dorothy (Wilson) Tyre. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in NuCar repair for General Motors for many years.
Robert had a passion for cars and spent most of his free time either working on vehicles or watching car shows on TV.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Colleen Sturgis Tyre; and sister, Doreen Berling. He is survived by his children, Robert Tyre II (Jennifer) and Julie Piatt; grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinett, Logan Tyre, Blake Piatt, and Jackson Tyre; and sister, Patricia Blankenship.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A committal service will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing, knew/worked with him from Newcar repair/final line area and the Core group at GM Boxwood plant.

Bob was a great guy to work with. He was a true gentleman. I worked with a lot of people at GM and he always put his heart into everything he did. I lost a true friend.
