Roger C. Ayers
December 28, 1941 - September 5, 2025
Roger C. Ayers, age 83, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Born in Somerville, NJ on December 28, 1941, he was a son of the late Trevor Allen and Sarah Amanda (Kline) Ayers. Roger proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1963 until 1972. He made his career as an iron worker with Union Iron Worker Local 399.
A friend to the community, Roger was a member of the Shriners Nur Temple as well as the Hiram Lodge. He also enjoyed volunteering at Christiana Hospital for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda K. (Moran) Ayers; and siblings, Grace Harriet, Allen Trevor, Lois Emily, Milton David, Lilian Ellen, and Phyllis Ann. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Alberts) Ayers; sons, Brian Roger Ayers (Lisa Ann) of Wilmington and Scott Daniel of Smyrna; stepchildren, Jeffrey Michael (Shaun) of Caddo Mills, TX and Molly Rose of West Chester, PA; grandsons, Joseph Earl and Jason Paul, both of Augustine, FL; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Elsie of Lawton, OK, Dallas Rose of Pottstown, PA, and Mackenzie Deline of Smyrna.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
