Romeo M. “Romy” Seneres
Romeo M. “Romy” Seneres, age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 28, 2022 with his loving wife, Erlinda, by his side.
Romy was born in Santa Barbara, Iloilo, the Philippines, to the late Cipriano and Priscilla (Madera) Seneres. He was the oldest of three children.
After high school, he attended the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, Iloilo, the Philippines, where he was an active member of the University Dance Troupe. He found such joy and pride in touring and performing throughout the island of Panay. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, with emphasis in Banking and Finance.
He came to New Castle, DE, and married the love of his life Erlinda in 1976. He was employed by the Delaware State Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant, retiring after almost thirty years of service.
Romy enjoyed singing, cooking, and together with Erlinda, dancing and traveling. He was a member of the Pilipino American Association of Delaware and the Filipiniana Cultural Society. As a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, he also sang with its Filipiniana Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Erlinda (Aquino) Seneres, of New Castle; siblings, Diosdado Seneres and Lolita (Seneres) Simpas, both of Iloilo, the Philippines; nephews, Jan Hector, Eric Carlo, Jed Nicholas, Edmund Jay, Angelo Miguel, all of Iloilo, the Philippines; niece, Cheryl, of Bear, DE; brother-in-law, Norberto Aquino (Nelia), of New Castle, DE; as well as members of his extended family.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Romy’s memory to the Goodwill Fire Co. of New Castle, 401 South Street, New Castle, DE 19720.
