Born July 28, 1929

Rose C. White, age 85, of Newark, DE and formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2015.

Born in Ontario, Canada on July 28, 1929, Rose was a daughter of the late Henry Conlin and Ella Mae Reeves Conlin. She served as the personal secretary and bookkeeper to Irénée Du Pont, Jr., retiring after many years of dedicated service.

She was a longtime and active member of the Berean Baptist Church in New Castle. Rose gave of her time and talents after retiring by working as a bookkeeper with the Sunday Breakfast Mission. She was a true advocate and devoted mother to her special-needs daughter and a dedicated supporter of Special Olympics of Delaware. Rose was happiest in the company of her beloved family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. White, Jr., 3 brothers, 2 sisters and a granddaughter, Christina M. White. Rose is survived by her children, William R. White III (Georgianna), Ralph H. White (Nicole) and Susan I. White; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Brookdale White Chapel Assisted Living Center for the exceptional care they provided to Rose.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday evening, February 9, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday morning, February 10, 2015 at the funeral home where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Baptist Church, 1 Holcomb Lane, New Castle, DE 19720 or to Special Olympics of Delaware, 619 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.

  • I only knew her briefly as a member of Berean Baptist Church, and I believe I taught her granddaughter Christina White at Gunning Bedford Middle School years before I joined Berean. She will be missed ,but now she can see her family in Heaven. God Bless!
