Ruth (Rahn) Brader, age 92, formerly of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2012, surrounded by family at an assisted living unit in Naples, Florida.
Born in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, on November 25, 1919, Ruth attended Kutztown University as a music major where she met the love of her life, Henry M. Brader. Ruth and Henry were married in Kutztown in 1939 and moved to Newark in 1948. They were active members of the Newark community and of the Newark United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Ruth loved music and taught piano to young students starting when she was 14 years old. She had students in the Newark area well into her sixties. She also played the piano at the Newark United Methodist Church and participated in many programs there.
Ruth’s life was dedicated to her family, friends and church. She also enjoyed travel, cooking and musical performances.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Carol Walters of Naples, Florida, and sons, Roy (Ruth) of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, and Barry (Jill) of Naples, Florida. Ruth is survived by her 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 19th, at 11 am at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E Main Street, Newark, Delaware 19711.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Henry M. Brader Elementary School, 350 Four Seasons Parkway, Newark, Delaware 19702, memo line: “for the Ruth Brader Fund.” This fund supports Brader schoolchildren unable to afford field trip costs.
