Samantha “Sunshine” Devonshire

          Samantha “Sunshine” Devonshire, age 20, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

          Born in Newark, DE, on December 23, 1998, she was the daughter of Joni L. Devonshire; granddaughter of Doris M. Luzier; and sister to Adam R. Trend.  Sammie was preceded in death by her stepdad, Larry Mitchell.  She had a love of the outdoors, especially plants and sunshine.  Sammie was easy going, had a great sense of humor and a laugh that you could not mistake.  She adored and loved her dog, Ruger.  Sammie will always be remembered as sunshine and sweet pea to those closest to her.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in Eglington Cemetery, 320 Kings Hwy, Clarksboro, NJ.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sammie’s memory to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Newport, DE 19804.

I know you had some challenges that year but in my class you were one of those students that made me love teaching because you loved learning.     From the moment we met at Waterford I knew you were a special kind of person and friend. You were always so radiant, so happy, so funny, always bringing a smile to my face. We practically grew up together for awhile there. You taught me so much and made me strive to be better and love life. I’m gonna miss you so much and I love you.
