Sandra D. “Sandy” Caporelli, age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on March 25, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Leland A. and Edith A. (Godwin) DuBois. Sandy made her career working for Blue Cross & Blue Shield retiring in 2007 after many years of dedicated service.

Sandy was well known for her commitment to her community and held many leadership and elected positions at the VFW J.F. Speer Post 615 in Wilmington, DE, including past state president, past national council member and past president of the ladies auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Nicholas J. Caporelli; daughter, Patricia Kee; and son-in-law, Joseph James Potter. She is survived by her loving children, William Caporelli, and Anne Marie Potter; siblings, Leland A. DuBois III, Kathleen P. White (John); sister-in-law, Arlene Cocciolone; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be held privately.
