Sandra S. Smyth, age 68, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Born in Chester, PA on August 1, 1946, Sandra was a daughter of the late Thomas Skinter and Elsie (Tribbitt) Skinter.

Strong in her faith, she was a longtime member of the Kemblesville United Methodist Church. Sandra adored spending time with her loved ones and in her earlier years, made many happy memories with them on the family’s boat. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and visiting the beach. Sandra will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Skinter, Charlotte Barrall and Elsie King. Sandra is survived by her husband of 49 years, David W. Smyth; children, Sheryl Snedeker (Joey) of North East, MD and David W. Smyth (Sandra) of Hockessin, DE; and 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, David, Timothy, James and Joseph III.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2015 at the Kemblesville United Methodist Church, 1772 New London Road, Kemblesville, PA. A second visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon on Thursday morning, May 28, 2015 at the church, with a funeral service to follow at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice c/o Vitas Health Care Corporation, 100 Commerce Drive, Ste. 302, Newark, DE 19713 or to the Kemblesville U.M. Church, P.O. Box 189, Kemblesville, PA 19347.
