Ms. Sarah A. Gdula, age 29, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Christiana Hospital in Newark.
Born in Dickinson, ND, on November 23, 1981, Sarah was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where she majored in Theater and Japanese. She made her career in the banking industry and was employed as a senior fraud analyst for Bank of America for the past 3 years. She was active in supporting both the National Epilepsy Foundation and the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware.
Sarah was well known throughout her life for her vivacious personality, winning smile, and spirited laugh. Her outgoing manner also led to her interest in the stage and she became a very gifted actress; in earlier years, she loved performing in university and local theater troupes. She also enjoyed listening to all types of music, traveling, and, most especially, spending time with her family and many good friends.
She is survived by her parents, Vaughn E. Gdula and Charlotte D’Amour Gdula of Cody, WY; sisters, Robyn Lalime (Chris) of Okinawa, Japan, and Lindsey Gdula of Groton, NY; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Mickey D’Amour; aunts and uncles, Mike D’Amour (Atsuko), Jim D’Amour (Lynne), Janet Kappauf (John), Guy D’Amour (Karen), Joan McKenna (Gene), John D’Amour (Colleen), and Jeani Gdula; and her pet cats, Beep Beep and Amira.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 7 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 4 pm. Interment will be held at a later date in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Elkridge, MD.
