Shirley Ann Davis, age 82, beloved wife of Allen M. Davis of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Born in Elkton, MD on September 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John B. (Hans) and Annie Cornelia (Denham) Zistl. Shirley was raised on a farm on Old Baltimore Pike, just outside of Elkton, MD.  She graduated from Newark High School and then went on to St. Francis School of Nursing. Shirley started her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington and then took time off to raise her two daughters. Once they graduated, she returned to nursing at Family Practice Associates in Wilmington where she dedicated more than 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and taking drives with her husband. Shirley especially loved taking care of her family.

Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Allen M. Davis; daughters, Michele D. Davis, and Patricia A. Hoffman (Daniel); grandchildren, Nicholas Hoffman, and Jaime Hoffman; and sister, Betty Jane Barbas and her family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
