Mrs. Shirley J. Meade, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011.
Shirley was born in Mercer County, WV on January 28, 1937 to the late Lee Graham and Mattie Johnston Graham. She was a devoted homemaker to her large family. More than anything else, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Asa R. Meade, a brother, Walter “Jack” Graham, and a sister, Helen Graham. She is survived by her children, Pamela J. Sewitsky of New Castle, Debra A. Meade of New Castle, Donna G. Kaiser and husband, Ira, of Elkton, MD, William L. Akers and wife, Joan, of Tampa, FL, and Theresa L. Auld and husband, Kevin, of Ocala, FL; brothers, Leonard Graham of Crab Orchard, WV, and David Graham of Mulberry, FL; sister, Patricia Aliff of Langeloth, PA; grandchildren, Matthew (Tamara) and Billy Akers, Tracey West, Franklin Kaiser (Sharleen), Michael Sewitsky, James Connelly, Jr., and Kevin Auld; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 7 pm until 9 pm at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Services and burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
