Shirley M. Shepler, age 77, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Shirley was born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 23, 1945. A lifelong Delaware resident, she was a talented homemaker throughout her life. Shirley enjoyed tending to her garden and doing yardwork. She was an avid crafter and excellent cook, who delighted in feeding her family well. Above all else, Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. Kennedy, Jr., 2 sons, Jimmy and Mark Kennedy, and 2 brothers. Shirley is survived by her children, John B. Kennedy, David P. Kennedy, and his wife Carol, Dennis H. Kennedy, Michael L. Kennedy, and Stacy M. Kennedy; 8 brothers; 5 sisters; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 3, 2012 at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
