Frank Mayer, Jr.
Frank Mayer, former co-owner of Spicer-Mullikin, spent 55 years in the funeral service industry and worked for Spicer-Mullikin from 1964 until 2012.
His long-term commitment to community involvement is admirable, serving 50 years in both the Newark Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus, and nearly 50 years as a member of St. Michael’s Council. Frank is also on the Board of Directors for the Newark Senior Center, The Independence School, and the Wilmington & Western Railroad. His favorite hobbies include sporting clay and fishing; he’s been with the Newark Anglers Association for 38 years.
Frank has one child and two grandchildren, and believes that “Attention to detail is the mark of a taut ship.” It was this philosophy – of exceptional quality of service and believing that every detail matters – that Frank offered to every family who came through Spicer-Mullikin’s doors. And that attention to detail is carried on today by each of the Spicer-Mullikin staff, especially his godson Matthew Smith, who is now the owner.
