Mrs. Stella Mae Green Hartsoe, age 98, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Millcroft Senior Living in Newark.
Mrs. Hartsoe was born in Lancaster County, PA, on October 9, 1914, the daughter of the late Warren and Mary (McVey) Green.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joshua E. Hartsoe, and her son, Barry A. Hartsoe of Newark.
Stella is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Kacmarcik of Newark; her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Mary Hartsoe of Newark; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Hartsoe of Lewes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michele Savin and husband Frank of Wilmington, Dr. Robert Kacmarcik and wife Kerri of Hockessin, Anne Johnson and husband Ric of Newark, Eric Hartsoe of Lewes, Brian Hartsoe of Newark, Joshua W. Hartsoe of Brooklyn, NY, Stephanie Hartsoe of Lewes, and Cynthia Hartsoe of Newark. In addition, she is survived by eight great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Carson of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
During her career, Stella enjoyed working at various Newark businesses, including W. L. Gore, Avon, and, after her retirement, the Newark Department Store. She was an avid reader and loved weekly visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Newark Senior Center.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 9th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark.
