I had the pleasure of working with Steve in Building 323 at the DuPont Experimental Station. He was a real nice guy and we will really miss him . He would always talk to you and he loved his family very much. I had the pleasure of working with him as a volunteer at the Delaware Food Bank, also. He will be greatly missed but we will always remember all of the great times and memories that we shared together with him.

My condolences and prayers go out to Steve’s family. I knew him only by phone, but I worked with him many, many times in our Red Cross volunteer roles. Our chats often went beyond Red Cross work. He was a great guy and I enjoyed talking with him. I’m sorry I never had the opportunity to meet Steve in person, (I live in Virginia and he lived in Delaware). He will definitely be missed.

I had the absolute honor of knowing Steve as a Duty Officer for the Delmarva Chapter of the American Red Cross. Duty Officers in our Region serve from Dulles Airport, south to DC suburbs, up to the PA line all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. That’s a lot of area to cover in a shift helping families that have been impacted by a home fire. Steve was always the calm, cool gentleman that served our clients and our responders with professionalism and empathy. He was a wonderful voice to hear in those disaster moments. I hope his family knows how much we will miss him and it gives you peace knowing he served his community in an exemplary manner.

Steve will be truly missed by me as a Red Cross volunteer! I will miss him as a dedicated Duty Officer who knew his business operations exceedingly well! His voice was so appealing it commanded attention! I never met him face-to-face however, we communicated over the phone so much, I counted him as my friend! Family, you have a wonderful cherished gem! Thank you for sharing him with us within the Disaster Action Team program! I know he was Air Force; however, as they say in the Navy “Fair winds and following seas” my friend I am ever so grateful that our paths have crossed. Cindy – DAT Regional Program Co-lead.

I just found out of Steve’s passing. I worked alongside Steve for 14 years until I retired and enjoyed every day, we had such a good time doing our thing daily. He would always do his best in whatever he was doing. I have missed him since my retirement. Sad to hear, he was very dedicated to his family.
