Susan King Bobiak

August 2, 1944 - June 13, 2015

Susan King Bobiak, age 70, of Hockessin, DE, daughter of the late James O’Bannon Carter and Lillian (King) Carter, passed away peacefully June 13th with her loving family by her side. Born in Wilmington, DE, Susan grew up in New Castle with her four sisters.

After graduating from DeLaWarr High School and receiving two paralegal certifications from George Washington University, Susan began her career with Chesapeake Bay Girl Scouts, Inc. where she established special friendships that continued throughout her life. She also worked at The Exxon Corporation, and took special pride in her career with AstraZeneca.

Susan was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She was extremely creative and enjoyed painting, reading and writing, and traveling to her favorite areas of Cape Cod, Georgia, Bethesda, Annapolis, and Maine. She loved sharing fond memories of her early years in Old New Castle during visits with her grandparents, and in Arden with her aunt and cousin.

Susan will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her loving niece Jenna (Pucylowski) Lucas. Surviving are her devoted daughter Shelley Goudy (Joseph Brian, Sr.) of Garnet Valley, PA, sisters Nancy Andreas (Dennis) of Bear, DE, Jane Holden (Bill) of North East, MD, Carol Gambill (Bob) of North East, MD, Patricia Carter of Elkton, MD, grandsons Charles David Goudy and Joseph Goudy, and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful, caring staff of the cardiac ICU at Christiana Hospital for their superior care of Susan.

A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Friday morning, June 19, 2015 at the Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green, 2nd and Harmony Street, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may visit from 10am until 11am. A reception will immediately follow the mass. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA. 19106.

  • I worked with Sue at the CBGSC office in Wilmington from 1974-1978. I have good memories of her smile, strong work ethic and willingness to help others. My sympathy to her family.

I know you’ll treasure those times. She was a beautiful person-she was always kind to me, spoke with her a few yrs back at the dentist office for your boys-always enjoyed her warm smiles.
