Texie M. (Helmick) Singleton Parker

Texie M. (Helmick) Singleton Parker, age 102, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Kentmere Healthcare.

Born in Pendelton County, WV on February 24, 1913, Texie was the daughter of the late Preston Helmick and Hettie (Long) Helmick. Texie was devoted to her loving son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid cook and gifted homemaker; Texie loved to take care of her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving son, William J. Singleton (Doris) of Wilmington; her grandchildren, William A. Singleton (Las Vegas, NV), Stephen Singleton (New Castle), Linda Jarjisian (Claymont), Cheryl Zajaczkowski (David), Patricia Kassees (Robert) and Daniel Singleton, all of Wilmington; and her great-grandchildren, Rebecca Mullen (Joshua), Heather Jarjisian, Ashley Kealey (Patrick) and Zachary Zajaczkowski. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first great-great grandchild in the fall. In addition, she is survived by 3 half-brothers, Bruce Thompson, Hugh Thompson and Frank Thompson; 5 half-sisters, Grace Lugo, Ruth Waybright, Ruby Cooper, Betty Woodford and Bessie Meier; and many nieces and nephews.

Texie was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Parker, who died in 1966; a sister, Carrie Ruth Hughes; 3 brothers, Charles Helmick, Arthur Helmick and Dickson Helmick; and 2 half-brothers, Lester Thompson and Seymour Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2015, at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
